Additional history relating to Elder Matthew Cowley, missionary for the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints in New Zealand-- Ten years after Elder Cowleys death, my companion and I knocked on the door of a residence in suburban Auckland, New Zealand. A fortyish half-Maori gentleman invited us in enthusiastically. He related how he had sat in the dirt as a young boy with Elder Cowley, and had eaten roasted pigeon from a campfire with him. He had waited all those years for LDS missionaries to knock on his door. We baptized that man and his family, partly due to the efforts of Matthew Cowley...!
