Import Duties (Yorubaland pays 90% of Import Duties) 3. Export Duties (Yorubaland pays 95% of Export Duties) 4. Exercise Duties (Yorubaland pays 70% of Exercise Duties) 5. Petroleum Profit Tax (Yorubaland has 60% of all vehicles in Nigeria and pays 60% of Petroleum Profit Tax) 6. Mining Rents and Royalties (Yorubaland pays 30% of Mining Rents and Royalties) 7. NNPC Earnings from Direct Sales (Yorubaland pays 20% of NNPC Earning from Direct Sales) 8. Pipeline Licenses and Fees (Yorubaland pays 35% of Pipeline Licenses and Fees) 9. Surpluses arising from the sale of Gas (Yorubaland pays 25% of Surpluses arising from sale of Gas) 10. Value Added Tax (VAT) (Yorubaland pays 80% of Value Added Tax) We don’t have the privileges of these taxes at all. If Yoruba stop its taxes going to the Federation Account, these are what our taxes can do: 1. Company Income Tax; Import Duties and Export Duties: These taxes are sufficient to create a welfare state in Yorubaland, where unemployed people would get unemployment benefits, disable people would get disability living allowance and where free medical, and affordable housing benefit would be available for all. 2. Petroleum Profit Tax, and Mining Rents & Royalties Revenue: These taxes could help fund jobs creation in small and medium enterprises. 3. NNPC Earning from Direct States and Pipeline Licenses & Fees Revenue: These taxes would be sufficient to fund Education, Agriculture and Military, Police and Para-Military Services. 4. Surpluses arising from the sale of Gas This tax could be use as funding on electricity maintenance and water resources as well as the environment. 5. Value Added Tax (VAT) goes into future savings. Instead of gambling on PDP or APC, we should be protesting to stop the Federal Government from controlling henceforth the wealth and resources of the Yoruba people. Our governments cannot create new jobs and business opportunities. They cannot develop huge renewable power potential because all the taxes we pay in Yorubaland go to the Federation Account. It is “wishful thinking” that Nigeria would be better. It has no such potential unless all the indigenous people therein are decimated and replaced with Europeans like the Red Indians, Eskimos etc were eliminated in North America. If this is too atrocious, then it is logical to divide the country along its natural boundaries via Regional Government or outright division of Nigeria.
