Admin - hope this is okay to post. There seem to be so many negative posts on here at the moment... So: I had a lovely day at UKA Nationals yesterday, and would like to thank the very kind people that averted potential disaster (though I failed to catch their names). A lovely lady, toddler in tow, saw a pop-up crate blowing across the parking area and went after it. It was only upon catching it that she realised there was in fact a collie inside! As I was slowly wandering back to the car from the admin tent, there was an announcement put over the tannoy about said dog, and a registration plate was given out. It was actually the wrong plate, but it was my friends (who was with me) so we hurried back. I got there and found this lady and her father had gone above and beyond. The gentleman said he didnt want to let her out in case she spooked and ran (Im sure she wouldnt have, but Im thankful they were so sensible just in case), but instead, they used their own pegs and bungees to tie the crate down and waited with her until I got there. She was a bit soggy (having tipped her rubber waterbowl over in the process of hamster wheeling) but apart from that, seemed absolutely fine. The lady said she hoped she wouldnt be traumatised from the event - Ive attached a photo of her from last night after the show. Feel free to judge for yourself but I think shes okay ;). I dont even want to think about the level of panic I would have experienced if Id arrived back at my car to find neither dog nor crate there... So THANK YOU, you lovely, lovely people. I obviously felt like a complete idiot having not pegged it down, but this was completely out of character as normally she just sleeps when shes in her crate, and Id also left the crate in a beach shade tent (acting as a wind break too for the minimal breeze). However: moral of the story - peg pop-up crates down very securely! And my contact details are now written on the crate just in case this ever happens again!
