Administrative Assistant The Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board is a statutory body established primarily to regulate and monitor the gambling and horse racing industry in the Western Cape. The Board invites applications for the following vacancy: Licensing Department The position requires a team player who is not only skilled in functioning effectively with people at all levels, but who can also operate independently. Further prerequisites are attention to detail, fluent communicative ability in English and computer literacy. Minimum requirements: Grade 12 qualification with at least 3 years experience within a gaming/administrative environment, or a relevant 3-year post-Grade 12 qualification Sound knowledge of computers and applications Data capturing skills. Key performance areas: Ensure strict and accurate enforcement of the Act, regulations, rules and procedures and make recommendations for the amendment thereof in line with new developments Ensure that all weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and statistics are accurately prepared and submitted timeously Ensure the effective, accurate maintenance of the Gambling and Administration Management System and the development thereof Ensure the effective, accurate and timeous dissemination, receipt, processing and licensing of all new/renewal licence applications Ensure an efficient office administration system Ensure that quarterly NGB/strategic statistics are prepared and forwarded to the Administration and Finance Department/HOD Ensure that the record control schedule of the relevant Department is continuously maintained and up to date Ensure that the departmental record control schedule and filing system is continuously maintained and up to date Maintain a working knowledge of related legislation, procedures, financial instructions, etc Deal with and conduct general enquiries/correspondence Provide assistance to the gaming auditors (within scope of work) Where applicable, undertake further actions emanating from audit/probity reports (within scope of work) Provide limited administrative/secretarial assistance to the relevant HOD/ Chief Auditor. The Board supports both employment equity and affirmative action, and the position will therefore be filled in accordance with its employment equity and affirmative action policies and targets. The total cost of employment is R164 687.00 per annum. The Board offers the normal company benefits, including a medical aid allowance, provident fund and an annual bonus based on merit.
