Adrian Piccoli said the main factor damaging the status of the profession was the perception that anyone can get into teaching. Though I think the main problem at the current time is almost anyone can become Education Minister! Though at least the NSW Education Minister is doing a better job (than his Federal counterpart) by standing up for the Gonski reforms and looking to Finland as a model, instead of the US.
