#AdventPoems Day 11 The Illuminator In the beginning there is one letter which strains his eyes as he spends hours working by candlelight with pens made from the reeds which grow in the beds on the profane side of the river. Inks of lapis lazuli and leaf of silver and gold applied with the same precision which initially flattened them to a thickness less than the paper they are teased onto. Silverpoint drawing of the design, burnished gold dots applied, the application of modulating colours and then repeated until ready to be passed on to the Scriptorium for the words of God to be added in Chancery Cursive black script.
