Advice for a Transformative New Year: Ignis et Azoth tibi - TopicsExpress

Advice for a Transformative New Year: Ignis et Azoth tibi sufficiunt There are a lot of indications that the coming year will be a milestone for modern alchemy. Most of the alchemists I know seem to be reaching a new level of maturity and dedication that transcends the primal concerns of making money and building careers. For modern alchemists, it is time to stop focusing on puffery and politics and become genuine Philosophers of Nature again. We need to set ourselves apart and become a real force in the world. My advice for staying real and on track in the Great Work is to focus on essentials, to find and remain true to the Quintessence of who we are as individuals and why we are attracted to alchemy. The alchemists told us exactly how to do that in their motto Ignis et Azoth tibi sufficiunt. It refers to the making of the Philosopher’s Stone and advises that Fire and Azoth are sufficient. Fire refers to the fire within, our bodily metabolism and the secret fire of inspiration that burns in our minds and spirits, as well as the transformative fires of our laboratories. There are several grades or kinds of fire but only one true Fire. Azoth is another archetypal idea. It is the Universal Mercury, the psychophysical solvent that dissolves and matures everything. It breaks down all structures and habits on all levels of matter and mind. It is the entropic force of Vitriol, the liquid fire of sulfuric acid that dissolves and absorbs. Azoth makes the transformative work possible by eliminating the previous state, by destroying all that is false and unnecessary. I have rededicated myself to this principle as we enter a new year. I sold my house in Sacramento and moved to a cabin at 4000 feet in the Sierra Nevada Mountains to focus on my research and writing. I am selling or donating much of my laboratory and books. I also resigned as President of the Alchemy Guild to allow for transformation and growth in that important networking organization I founded in 1993. The new president of the Alchemy Guild, Mathew David Ingalls, is one of the most genuine people I have ever met. I am confident he has the inner Fire and Azoth necessary to nurture the Alchemy Guild into a new era of dynamic service and growth. As president of the Denver Chapter and organizer of the next Alchemy Guild Conference (Denver 2016), he has proven himself as someone who is dedicated to the Great Work in both its spiritual and practical aspects. I urge members to support Mathew in his efforts to expand the Guild and alchemize the world! I will continue to work for the Alchemy Guild, the Rosicrucian Alchemy Museum, and other non-profit groups. I hope to write more books and expand my lectures and workshops, and set up free podcasts and streaming video presentations that focus on how to effect real changes in our lives. I feel a new sense of clarity on what we need to do in the world to transform it. Our attitudes and purity of purpose are key. But the process is actually very simple: Ignis et Azoth tibi sufficient!
