Advise please on book awards? Evelyn Amony and I have a book forthcoming in the University of Wisconsin Press! Its the life story of Amony who was abducted at the age of 12 by the Lords Resistance Army and spent 11 years inside the group as a soldier, and forced wife to rebel leader Joseph Kony. She is now a human rights activist. Its a detailed look inside the rebel leaders inner circle, and challenges much of what we know about women and war, highlighting the nuanced ways women navigate rebel groups. In the marketing form, they ask the follow: As your publisher, the UW Press will submit your work for book awards. Please suggest the names of the most suitable awards competitions for your book and the pertinent web sites or other contact information. (Because awards competitions often require 3-7 free books, and sometimes an entry fee as well, please suggest only awards that are a good fit for your book. Our awards intern will also peruse award rules at the time of submission to confirm eligibility.) If you are not aware of any relevant book awards, be assured that we will also be on the lookout for suitable opportunities for your book.
