Advisory#2 FOR ST.VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES ON TROPICAL STORM BERTHA A TROPICAL STORM-WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR ST.VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES. A TROPICAL STORM WATCH MEANS THAT TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY TO AFFECT THE ISLAND…..IN THIS CASE IN 12 TO 36 HOURS. AT 5.00 AM THE CENTRE OF TROPICAL STORM BERTHA WAS LOCATED NEAR 13.0°N 57.0°W OR ABOUT 280 MILES (440 KM) TO THE EAST OF ST VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES. TROPICAL STORM BERTHA IS MOVING TOWARDS THE WEST NORTH-WEST AT 20 MP/H….31 KM/H AND THIS GENERAL MORTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE IN THE NEXT 24 HOURS. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 45 MPH...75 KM/H WITH HIGHER GUSTS. THE ESTIATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1008 MILLIBARS…29.77 INCHES On its present track the center of the system is expected to pass about to the north of Saint Lucia this afternoon. “Bertha” will produce moderate to heavy showers, scattered thunderstorms and occasional gusty winds across St. Vincent late Friday afternoon. Rainfall accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are anticipated. In addition, sea conditions will deteriorate and swells may reach as high as 3 meters (10ft). Residents should continue to monitor the progress of this system and take all necessary precautions. . The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Office will continue to monitor , and issue the next advisory on the system at 8am.
