Aerials AFC was established by Mr. Peter Dreyer in German Town in Upper Kloof Street, Cape Town, in 1939. The club jersey consisted of royal blue and white stripes. A picture of the aerial cableway extending toward Table Mountain was found on their badge. In 1944, a host of players joined the club from Bloemhof Flats in District six and in 1947, Aerials won the League Trophy at Alliance FA.. In 1957, an undefeated Aerials won the League, Shield, Grand Challenge and Knockout trophies. In 1958, Aerials won the Maggot Trophy. In 1960, at the birth of professional soccer, six of its team members were lost to Cape Ramblers, Cape Towns first professional team in the newly formed SASL-Ivan Dagnin, Challa Links, Graham Cousins, Joe Fisher, Stephen Swartz and Norman Schaffers. Had Basil D Oliveira, who was the captain of the team, not chosen to play cricket in England, no doubt he would have been included in the Ramblers team. Aerials was one of the last remaining clubs when Alliance FA disbanded in 1984. The club finally disbanded in 2007 after representing Alliance FA Board team consistently until the formation of the Virginia League in the 1980s.
