Afam B. C. Nnaji Yesterday at 10:02 · From a Friend xxxxxxx APC should thank Ayo Fayose immensely. But for Ayo Fayose winning the Ekiti State gubernatorial elections some weeks back APC would have continued to believe (wrongly I must add) that overwhelming majority of Nigerians that are pissed off with PDP automatically support them and would vote for the party in 2015 presidential election. Just one state election and the following are happening 1. Osun State governor is returning schools to their original owners. 2. Edo State governor is cancelling the teachers competency tests and recalling sacked teachers. Our democracy seems to be working as elected leaders and politicians now understand that indeed power belongs to the people and once you alienate the people they will turn their backs on you on election day as long as you have a free and fair election. Call it stomach infrastructure if you like but the fact remains that those you claim to be leading must key into your ideas and projects as you cannot think for yourself and still choose to think for millions of people you are supposed to be leading. Then, just a single national congress and the party has formed a committee headed by the former vice president Atiku Abubakar to help mend fences and reconcile aggrieved members. As things stand today, APC as a party is going through what PDP went through many years ago and it may take the APC at least 4 good years to get ready to challenge the PDP at the national level. I hope they also pay attention to the religious angle as the party is seen as a Muslim party and in politics perception counts a whole lot. One good thing about the APC though is that PDP now realizes that an opposition party exists and things wont be way too easy for the PDP.
