After 7 months in Bombay I have never been so green. I am afraid this city gives an indication of the worlds not so distant future...Im sure the residents here never believed their city would look like this. Dont let our governments make the same mistakes. A few tidbits on the Abbot Point Port Expansion... The decision (to allow dredge spoil dumping) follows the government giving the green light to a major coal port expansion for Indias Adani Group on the reef coast in December, It will see Adani dredge 3 million cubic meters of material from the seabed to allow freighters to dock at the port in Abbot Point, lifting the facilitys capacity by 70 percent to make it one of the worlds largest coal ports. The GBRMPA, whose board is currently under investigation for its links to the mining industry, added that the strict environmental conditions imposed on the project by the federal government would help protect the reef.
