After Four Games - I thought we would be 3-1 after 4 games, but we just couldnt defeat nemesis New Hampshire which leaves us at 2-2. Theres little doubt in my mind that we are still a strong competitor for the CAA Championship. However, our margin of error is very slim. To obtain an at-large invitation to the FCS playoffs I still think we need 9-3. Obviously to get there we need to finish 7-1. If we beat Liberty Saturday getting to 9-3 will mean at least a 6-1 finish in the CAA which could get us a piece of the CAA Championship too. We can do it, but only if we play to the level of our experience and talent. Three strengths so far: 1) no one has stopped our passing attack...Strauss playing up to Payton Award watch standard...wide receivers playing at extremely high level even without injured Barnette 2) OL pass protection 3) FG, EXP, KO and Punting has been solid and dependable Three areas to improve in if we are to get to 9-3: 1) making some big plays on defense...creating TOs and QB sacks...drive stopping and game changing plays 2) improving red zone offense to score more TDs v. FGs 3) being able to consistently run the ball when we need to control the clock and keep the opponent off balance Im looking forward to seeing what we can do.
