After I sat through a lengthy series of somber court cases today, the no-nonsense judge (who was having the appropriate, intimidating effect on the defendants appearing before him) produced some levity when he directed one defendant to hand his form to that attorney over there with the yellow, splotchy tie drawing the mock indignation of the attorney wearing the patterned tie. The prosecutor chimed in, I think thats chili, your honor, drawing more mock indignation. The judge redeemed himself a moment later when he directed the next defendant to hand his form to the attorney with the nice, yellowy tie. No one dared to chuckle, but the smiles were sufficient to lighten the mood. (Maybe you had to be there to fully appreciate the comedic relief.)
