After Madrid airport suffered a significant loss of passenger traffic during the summer, the government is offering up to 100% discount on fees. The reasons go beyond the recession, to mistakes in government policy - which aimed at raising more money, but ensured the opposite. The success of the Spanish high speed AVE rail network -at least until the summers accident in Galicia- has meant that fewer people are flying within the peninsula. But for those travelling from the Canary and Balearic islands, it has become increasingly expensive, with a serious fall in the frequency of flights and destinations. These measures will hopefully enable Spanish evangelical leaders to cut the cost of holding the meetings, which are so essential to ministry in the large country.
