After a a few recent personal experiences and some reading from C.S Lewis (errbody loves C.S) Ive come to a tentative conclusion: Eros love is helpful in reflecting on your own character, because it exposes your flaws through your emotions. It pushes the limits of your integrity and gives a small picture of the lenghts we need to go to love other people (outside of romance). And the physical aspect should never be something you take too seriously. You should only keep yourself from lust, you should keep yourself from compromising your core values for the sake of physical pleasure. I say core values because we often take too seriously our physical needs. We make gods out of them. We betray our own way of living to please ourselves. In short: love God, love yourself, love others
