After a busy few months fundraising towards the project we are pleased to announce that funds have greatly increased. Thank you to all who helped create a really fun Skate Walk Day, and to those who organised the Coffee Morning and Jumble Sale. We are also grateful to the organisers of Okehampton Skate Jam for contributing their entry fees (£80). Thanks also to DCC Cllr James McInnes for his donation (£350). However a very special big thank you to goes to the Moor Management Committee who have been most generous (£7000). Support is also gratefully received from Hatherleigh Town council (approx £4,500) and the Rotary Club (£500). The Rotary donation will exceed this as we have also been given £500 worth of draw tickets to sell. Not only this but the Rotary are having a BEER FESTIVAL on 24th August and will kindly donate half of their beer festival takings! Our funds when collected amount to over £70,000!! We are in discussion with four of the best skate companies with the revised sum and area footprint and are awaiting to see what ‘INSPIRING’ designs they come back with. Although people are keen (espec youngsters) to get a park ready for summer this in not a project that can be rushed and we want to ensure we get the best we can for Hatherleigh. Be assured we are working to improve the utility space of this corner of Island Park to benefit all wheeled sport users (bikes, scooters, bladers, skaters). Thank you once again to all the many individuals and groups in the community for your help.
