After a rather nice (in my opinion at least...but that and two quarters will get you a fun size snicker bar..) day, things head in the other direction for Monday. We kick off the new work and school week on a very unsettled note. I am tracking an area of low pressure that will bring a mess of weather for the entire Mid-Atlantic and Northeast... Snow, Freezing Rain and Rain are all associated with it as is typical with these types of storms, but its all about LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. For those of you traveling along the I-95 corridor, things are gonna get a little hairy. Im not so much worried about snow as I am for the potential of freezing rain. 20 miles either side of Philadelphia is under the gone for a mixed bag of precip at the onset on the storm and for a couple hours into it as well.. Camden, Sicklerville, Pitman, Salem.. Im looking in your direction. Overnight lows will hover around freezing.. even a couple degrees warmer than freezing wont matter as a heavy rate of falling precipitation results in colder air aloft being pulled down to the surface. Point blank, If youre heading in the direction of Philadelphia during the morning rush tomorrow.. take it slow!! Wintry mix possible through the day in the northwestern sections of South Jersey as temperatures really dont warm up significantly.. we are in the mid 30s, so mixing could be an issue going into mid morning. Will continue to watch radar trends and update! For the rest of us, Atlantic, Cape May & Cumberland counties, while a wintry mix is possible at the very onset of the event, we will quickly change to all rain as we will be well within the warm sector of the storm. I expect highs to reach the low to mid 40s. Periods of rain expected through the day, heaviest south and east.. Rain spreads in from southwest to northeast between 6 and 8am. It will be a day for the ducks! Most locations will pick up around 1/2 of rain. Snow should be pushed back WELL north and west of Philadelphia.
