After a week of emails, phonecalls, Facebook rants, tweets and interviews with reporters... Carillion and QA called yesterday to apologise and they have cancelled the fine. Carillion have agreed to investigate the actions of the Parking Attendant. It took a lot of fuss and stress, no one should be in a position that they have to fight to use A&E parking without being targeted by parking sharks. The procedures in place dont work (well they do, to the advantage of the parking agency). Its not about the money, its the injustice. While I feel partially vindicated, I learned from the hospital thats its the hospital who foot the bill for any loss of profit to the parking agency following parking subsidises or exemptions. A donation of £100 will be made to Portsmouth Hospitals to balance their loss, the care Emilia received was excellent. In good conscience I cant let there be £100 missing from hospital funds, thats a lot of Calpol! Things need to charge.
