After a year and a half of complaining that it would involve too - TopicsExpress

After a year and a half of complaining that it would involve too much extra work, The Boy finally acquiesced to his math teachers pleas that he transfer to the honors math class after the winter break. Heres a conversation that took place when he got home from school today: Me: How was school? The Boy: It was fine. Me: Hows the honors geometry class? The Boy: Its okay...I guess. Me, alarmed: Its not too hard for you, is it? The Boy: No, but the teacher uses a book instead of worksheets, which is annoying. Me: Um...why? The Boy: Because now I have one more book I have to lug around. Me, surprised: Since all your other textbooks are virtual, Im confident you can handle schlepping around a three-dimensional, three-pound object. The Boy: No, the geometry book is online too. Me: [Blink. Blink.] The Boy: I just meant that now I have to bookmark another textbook site on my laptop, thats all. Me: [Blink. Blink.] The Boy: Can I go do my homework now? Me: I guess so. Just be careful when youre hauling that new link around. Chiropractors cost money, you know. -------- For all of you folks who are older than dirt and remember your days as a student/pack mule, lugging around backpacks that often exceeded your own body weight, you can understand why my sympathy levels were so very low at the conclusion of this conversation.
