After a year of development, on Monday we are releasing N1MM - TopicsExpress

After a year of development, on Monday we are releasing N1MM Logger+ for Open Beta testing. This means that anyone can download the program from the new website (n1mmloggerplus.hamdocs) and test it, and anyone can join the N1MM Logger Plus Yahoo group. I hope everyone will keep some things in mind: • The large feature set of the program means that it will take expanded beta testing to flush out the remaining issues. Anyone using it for a serious contest effort should be forewarned that data loss is possible, and recovery uncertain. • We have 9 weeks before CQWW SSB, which should be time enough to resolve significant bugs and validate program operation. Please do not expect suggestions for improvements or added features to be acted upon during this Open Beta period. • Be sure to read the FAQ and transition notes on the N1MM Logger+ home page. Take note, in particular, that - unlike N1MM Classic - the version numbering system no longer represents the year and month of release. As I write this, we are on beta version 0.18.3368. The leading 0 denotes a beta version. The “18” denotes the Full Install (major) number, while the 3368 is the Latest Update (minor) number. When the numbers in the Full Installer filename are the same as the Latest Update filename, then you only need to install the Full Install. When there is a higher (newer) Latest Update version number, then you also need to install the Latest Update. When the Full Install number changes, you’ll need the Full Install again. • If all 14,000 people who downloaded the latest version of N1MM Classic descend on the N1MMplus.hamdocs website in the first week, nobody will be very happy. To avoid overwhelming the server or the support team, we may disable access to the download page after there have been a substantial number of downloads. Please bear with us, and if you cannot access the files on the website, check back later. For the same reason, please refrain from introducing N1MM Plus to new users by telling them “You gotta try this,” lest we drown in queries from first-time users. • When you begin testing, please wait one full day before asking your first question on the reflector. Take the time to look at the manual on the website, and at the N1MM Logger Plus Yahoo group archive. You’ll also find that the N1MM Plus websites Search function has been much improved – please give it a try. I want to thank the team for taking time from their lives, families and jobs to make this possible. Estimated development time to date is 12,000 hours. 73, Tom - N1MM n1mmplus.hamdocs/tiki-index.php
