After all the excitement of testing the BGR Piper 5.0 with the Toyo Tires F1600 Karts to Cars program, I attended the end-of-year MIKA Banquet. Celebrating all that was accomplished in 2014 I was awarded my championship and gave a speech, which Ive also written out below (the beginning was cut off in the film, apologies): As I entered my last year of Rotax Jr, I didnt know what to expect. I was with a new team, Kevin Glover Karting, had my dad as my mechanic for the first time in what felt like forever, I had a desire to win and I really wanted to have a good time with my Mosport family. Eight months later, and look how far weve come. I got my first win in years, I won a championship in the first time in even longer, and along the way I had a lot of really great experiences, including doing my first race in Senior at the end of September. So then, of course, I have to thank some people. First and foremost, my mum, my dad, my sister.. and well thats my family. They tolerated the 5am wakeups, every time Id get on track Id have them supporting me, and my dad and sister were great mechanics... and without them I wouldnt have gotten on track at all this year because I have no idea how that kart works. My mum, she was a great psychologist, along with Uncle Conquer, and theyd make sure my head was always level. Then of course, my sponsors, Ive got Arai Americas and Inside Track. Theyve been fantastic and have been supporting me this whole time. As well, anyone whos supported me along the way, whether it be a friend, colleague, anyone who has helped me realize my passion for racing. Finally, and most important, Ken and Robyn for running what I strongly believe to be the best kart club in Ontario. Its been a pleasure to race under your care and get to know you as the incredible individuals you are. Without you I wouldnt have the chance to speak here today, and because of you Im proud to call myself a MIKA racer.
