When talking about Croatia, forgot the Plitvice Lakes. They are about 150 km south of Zagreb, and are just wonderful. We spent a morning walking them. Started very early as the Temperature on the 18th was the highest ever for that day in Croatian history. Took the bus to the top and walked down. Amazing waterfalls, lakes and bush. Then took a boat ride to the top of the lower lake, and walked back. Went for a swim the next day, but were moved on by the Police as we were not allowed our car in that area!!!!! Went to another place the locals use in the afternoon, but found it a bit muddy near the banks. Still, lovely to cool down.
