After almost a month at sea visiting farms throughout the Coast Salish Sea...finally, here I sit, on my way back to Salt Spring Island. The last month has been a dream come true, and is turning into an even bigger vision that will see Sea To Seed returning and building even stronger ties to the islands and communities that we visited this month (and new ones too). What I saw on these islands was people living closer to what I feel is humanitys higher potential, something I have only felt in a handful of places around the world...living in a way that is giving more back to the planet than they are taking. It’s beautiful to see what people and communities can do when they have true respect for the land they are stewards to, and when their very spirits are connected to that land. Also, I have to say, it’s now clearer to me than ever that, as much as we need to be fighting the injustices of our system, we also need to be putting full energy into creating alternatives, and offering those who are creating these alternatives our full support and love. I’m very excited to spend the rest of my summer returning to many of the farms we visited and more to start up the next phase of the project, and to really form a clear vision for the future of the project. On a personal note, this trip brought a lot of my shortcomings and insecurities to the surface and made me confront them head on, but, with the support of the crew, I stepped up to overcome them. I can’t thank you all enough for your support with this. Still a lot of work to be done, but I am returning with a new confidence and drive that Im sure will see an important shift in me in the future. So many more thoughts about the last month, but for now, I just want to thank everyone for their support in making this happen. First and foremost, Tarran Gabriel, if it was not for you and our shared vision, this would have never happened. Lynx Musik , Travis Puntarelli, Fallyn Mar and Eve Ladyapples, thank you for bringing your music and words to this adventure and to the people.
