After another full week of election qualifying, here is an updated list of candidates who have picked up qualifying papers in the major races in Scott County: Sheriff: Current sheriff Ronnie Phillips, former chief deputy Bobby Ellis and former deputy Joe Buster Marlow. County Mayor: Current mayor Jeff Tibbals, pastor and former hospital employee Wayne King, Oneida businessman Harold Brooks and Oneida businessman (and former owner of Purdues Shell) Dale Purdue. In commission races, all incumbents with the exception of 5th Districts Paul Strunk and Harold Chambers and 7th Districts Mike Slaven have picked up papers. Theyre joined by a number of potential challengers, including former commissioners Leonard Bertram (2nd District), Rick Russ (4th District) and Rick Burke (7th District). The 3rd District and 4th District are already up to five potential candidates with still more than two months of qualifying remaining.
