After being told that the waiting list to have my cataract removed was about six to eight months, I was wondering how I was going to carry on for that length of time with such limited sight. I received a letter from the hospital today though saying that because the type of cataract I have is notorious for rapid progression and is likely to affect my quality of life, the consultant wants to see me for pre-op assessment by the end of April. Thats the best news Ive had in a long time as I was wondering how on earth I was going to carry on with such limited sight for that many months. Ive had fifteen operations in the past and its always a bit daunting when you have to go in to hospital, but this is one procedure that Im actually excited about!!! All being well, the operation will be a complete success and I will finally be able to see the way forward!!!
