After blathering yesterday about Creams recording of Crossroads, I - TopicsExpress

After blathering yesterday about Creams recording of Crossroads, I realized I was droning on in my former music critic mode--that is to say, all head and no heart. Heres why I love Crossroads: I remember driving my Moms car on a grey fall morning to meet some guy I was helping rake leaves. I was feeling sorry for myself. I was around 20, had taken time off from university and was wondering if I was smart enough to go. I popped a Best of Cream cassette into the deck, Crossroads started and I cranked that sucker to 11. The steering wheel became my fretboard for Erics solos, the rearview mirror my crash cymbal. Soon, I had goosebumps, I was singing my fool head off and my heart was in my throat. I was near tears. It was a divine moment of bliss. I arrived feeling 10 feet tall, and I dont think it was that many weeks later that I decided I would take a shot back at university. Thats why I love Crossroads. BTW, My top five driving songs in no particular order: Radar Love, Highway Star (live version), Crossroads, Free Bird and Quadrant 4 (Billy Cobham). Never heard Q4? Check it out and wait for the crazy Tommy Bolin solo. PLAY LOUD! Let me know your thoughts. No… your feelings! https://youtube/watch?v=xLMb6RniGrU
