After doing everything they could for Dad after having 3 strokes ( 2 coming in the last 3 weeks), doctors discharged him from Methodist University Hospital today to go home with hospice care. You may have heard the term hospice yet not understand the full meaning of it. The American Heritage Stedmans Medical Dictionary defines hospice as, “a program that provides palliative care and attends to the emotional, spiritual, social, and financial needs of terminally ill patients at a facility or at a patients home.” We decided to bring Dad home to Holly Street rather than put him in a nursing home.
