After escaping from santas workshop the Elf known as Andrew Smart - TopicsExpress

After escaping from santas workshop the Elf known as Andrew Smart made up for his poor start to the season with what can only be described as two outstanding back to back wins. On Friday the Elgin boxer faced the Northern District 69kg Champion and all round nice guy, Terry Ballantine at Arbroath. Starting off fast Smart knew it was time to get back to winning ways and mixed his work from head to body. Even though Terry had some success Andrew took it to another level and it was no surprise when he was declared the winner on a unanimous. 24 hrs later Smarty was to face another top boxer in Ryan Gall at Dundee. Once again boxing 3x3s with no head guards Smarty set a fast, hard pace against the technical boxer. Switching from orthodox to southpaw and once again mixing it head and body Andrew took every round to once again be declared the winner by unanimous decision. Sunday seen Elgins Princess Megan face Cassidy Todd (Duries) in an exhibition match. Giving weight and age away Megan wasted no time to get down to business and forced her opponent onto the back foot. During the 3 rounds both girls demonstrated excellent boxing skills and as the final bell rang the crowd made it known how impressed they were to see female boxing at such a high level. Also boxing at the weekend was Jack Reid and Fraser Wilkinson. Both gave great accounts of themselves but unfortunately had to take the runners up position after close contests. As always all boxers did the club proud, by their conduct and the effort they put in and it is this that makes the Elgin BC what it is!- Ratch
