After everything Ive seen today and many hours of biting my tongue, I wont keep it to myself anymore. It isnt fair for anyone to say what the police should or shouldnt have done in the situation they were put in this morning. As an officer, you never know what youll be walking into when you serve a warrant, pull a car over, or respond to a call. Last night was a situation where something unpredictable happened, and a decision was made by someone who went through the training for 3+ months to know how to respond to potentially dangerous situations. Im sure that if it were your husband or boyfriend or wife or father or second cousin twice removed with a gun aimed in their direction or a knife to their neck or in a scary situation, they would react the same way. These people that you dont trust save lives everyday, but no one seems to care what law enforcement does right. The fact that Mitch worked a twelve hour shift yesterday until 7 p.m. then had to turn right around and go out on a call until 4 a.m. might make me a little biased, but I am so sick of everyone bashing law enforcement. If you dont like police, youre probably one of the main ones that stays in trouble. I pray that both the sheriffs office and the Hooks family can find understanding and especially comfort at this time.
