After finishing Dream Tempest in June, I took a 4 month break from making music, having not made a single tune outside some compilation tracks/remixes. Unlike a lot of artists, I cant make music all the time, as it burns me out and I start to lose focus/inspiration. For example, when I finished Hypersona late 2008, I didnt make any new music for Hollow until about a year later. Its just the way I work and 5 years later, Im more than comfortable with this approach. Anyway, I just thought that people might like to know that I have the urge to work on new music again and have already finished what I think may be one of the most defining pieces of music Ive made so far, as well as some tracks that have the potential to be good. I love the start of projects, as there are no deadlines, no expectations etc.. just making music purely for fun and enjoyment, as it should be. Sometimes as artists grow, get bigger etc.. expectations from both themselves and their fans can get quite overwhelming, which is why I find it really helps to have a certain disconnect and take a different approach to my music. Its probably why a lot of people say that artists make their best work earlier in their career, as theyre often less burdoned by things like this and can just get on with what really matters: making the music they want to make. Im of the firm belief that my best work is still to come and Ill do everything I can to make it happen. Anyway, sorry for going all live journaly with this post! Hopefully there will be new music I can release in 2015 and Ill try to make it as good as I can. Cheers for listening!
