After going through a bazillion healthcare plans to adjust to the - TopicsExpress

After going through a bazillion healthcare plans to adjust to the new Obamacare, it really hit me... This whole insurance thing can make you cry, pretzel your brain, and do your best to figure out what is right. I understand health is important, and it is something you have to have essentially to live a life knowing you are protected. But by goodness, after a stressful time adjusting, tweaking and finding out what is the right plan and what covers what and doing your best to live life without living in a bubble, there are things you can do... First, get rid of the habits, smoking, drinking, overeating, fast food, apathy, laziness, etc. It serves no one, and no human body. Second, look at your genetics, and FIGHT them. Everything runs in my family, so that is why I run. Stop using the genetics card and start using the treadmill. Third, start making serious healthy changes when it comes to diet. You can reverse so much by just eating right. Heck, you can lower your own blood pressure, and cholesterol, just by eating right. Why would you depend on a pill, ridiculous insurance premiums, copays, and all that junk just so you can continue on the same path that in reality, prolongs death rather than life. Fourth, move your body. Just 30 minutes a day can alleviate depression. You think grabbing a beer alleviates it? For about 30 mins it does, then you wake up with guilt and a gut. And, increased glucose levels that puts you at a higher risk for diabetes, plus it ages you like nuts. And finally, WHY, WHY, WHY would anyone jeopardize their health with their own choices. Your body is representing your choices, your health represents your choices, your weight represents your choices, and your length of life can be determined by your choices. I will be the first to cut loose, but I will also be the first person in the gym cleaning it up. YOU have more power than this plan, you have more power to change every single aspect of your health. There is nothing more gratifying, than filling out a health questionnaire, and marking NO or N/A all the way down to every disease, illness, and daily prescription. You can live with regret, or live with reward, and it takes one step to change it all and lower your premiums. Because, quite frankly, with taking that first step, perhaps you really wont need it.
