After going to the doctor today, which was the first time I had to - TopicsExpress

After going to the doctor today, which was the first time I had to do it since it became the law to have insurance (which I dont have), I can only say this article seems spot on. I was far from crying poverty while I was there, yet the assistant that did most of the paperwork was at first confused on how I can be one of the uninsured people being its now the law. Without me asking , she said, we can probably not charge you for all the tests. I was like, Ok... Im not going to argue with someone offering me a discount!, but I still made it seem like it was no big deal, saying whatever, I have to get done what I have to get done. Whats stranger though was when the doc came in and they were going back and forth over recording my test result. he then says to her that it looks like being I have no insurance that they should probably not charge me for all of the tests they did, and only charge me for some of them. Now Im thinking, this cant just be a coincidence. The bottom line to me is, I think if anything, we all have understated the mess that the Feds have made of this industry. Part of that lesson from today was also how they reacted when I told them I now longer have a primary care doc. The reason being he wanted to get out of the biz (which is true). There reaction was along the line of like, yeah another one! As for me, I paid less then I expected, and might have even at the end of the day spent the same amount after my copay, deductible, and whatever else if I did have insurance, and the only person cheated were the insurance companies and the Gov for not getting their cut of it all.
