After living in Spain for almost a year, I realized how amazing home is. Westfield could not be a better place for a foreign exchange-student to indulge on and learn the beauty of American Culture. God Bless the United States of America. As most of you may know, I recently just got back from a year abroad in Spain. For 10 months, I stayed with a new family and went to a public school only speaking Spanish. AFS was the perfect program for me and helped even when times were tough. I shared amazing memories with people I wouldnt have ever met and who changed my life . As of now, There are 5 students originally destined for New Jersey from my foreign-exchange program, AFS, that still do not have families. Consequently these kids will not be able fly into JFK international airport on August 14th unless someone can host them. - If these remaining incoming students dont have a family soon in Westfield they could end up in North Dakota or even worse, Scotch Plains. These kids just want to have an opportunity as I did. When I applied to AFS, I was lucky enough to be selected by a family early before I even had to worry about stuff like this, and from the help of almost all volunteers, I had a truly fulfilling year. If you know anybody willing to volunteer their family for an exchange student for 3-10 months, please reach out to me... These kids need the help. Although Im sure these short bios do not do these kids complete justice, here they are as small descriptions: Linda from Italy loves singing, reading, acting and writing.
