After lots of deliberation I think its only fair to write a post and inform other customers of my recent experience with DAF. On defrosting some of the tripe and the frozen knuckle bones, to my horror we discovered maggots within the contents. We immediately discarded the meat and I emailed the company. I got a direct response from one of the company partners, Lee, which stated that he was aware they had had a problem with contaminated meat and maggots and he thought this was down to a drain on site. His response was quite flippant and non concerned and I was quite shocked to hear that he was aware of the problem but had continued to sell the meat !!! The emails continued and his manner become less concerned and more sarcastic with each response, even quoting that celebs travel all the way to Australia to eat maggots !!!! Yesterday the company contacted me to arrange collection of the contaminated meat, now bearing in mind their next delivery date in my area is 17th November, you can imagine how surprised I was that they could get their delivery van to me within half an hour of contacting me !!!!! Hmmmmm call me cynical, but I suspect young Lee wants his contaminated meat back in the safety of his maggot ridden factory ASAP. One bag retained and email to environmental health and trading standards duly sent. If you have DAF products please please please thoroughly check them once defrosted, this incident has made me feel as sick as a dog !!!!
