After many years of fundraising for startups and small nonprofit organizations for most of my career, I made a decision to work for a large, branded nonprofit organization and chose the American Heart Association as an employer of choice on my path upward. Unsure about the dynamics of working in a large, matrix organization, I plodded on navigating the new bureaucracy and a million dollar plus goal. With support from family, friends and co-workers, I ended the fundraising reason ahead of projections, and was awarded 2013 ROOKIE of the YEAR among AHA fundraisers in six states! #believeinyourself --and, thank you to the village!
