After months of re-living memories prompted by this great facebook page, I found that I needed to return to my roots. 51 years ago the Brosie family moved to Maitland, from the town of Gresford. My parents, and their parents, and their parents, and their parents were farmers. It was a hard, heartbreaking life, mainly due to droughts and rabbit plagues, until many farmers from the district said enough was enough. Over the years our family would often visit Mums familys farm, as it had stayed in close family hands for many years later , but, Dads familys farm did not, and we have never set foot on that farm since leaving 51 years ago. This facebook page had stirred-up many childhood memories for me, two from 51 years ago when I was a 5 year old boy on the farm in Gresford. So with my brothers and sister, and our spouses, we went to Gresford to walk the boundaries of the old farm. My older brother new that we would be impressed, but to myself and younger brother and our wives, it was just simply breathtaking. We are so kicking ourselves for not going back there earlier in our lives.
