After much thought I called Global News room in Saskatoon and spoke to reporter Rena Montgomery. I told her my name, that I am a therapist for the community, and also a family member of one of the missing children. I let her know that I spoke to someone immediately after Globals false report. I informed her that such reckless reporting caused further unnecessary emotional trauma for my own family members, and a community that is already going through alot. I then went on to ask her who the reporter was that stated the kids were found, and while she did not provide the name she immediately apologized for the false report. To the familes of the missing children and community of Southend and I QUOTE Rena Montgomery of Global news: Please apologize to the families on behalf of global, that was a poorly written report and we accept full responsibility! I called not to create conflict but to hold them accountable to my own family! I heard the elation in my sisterinlaw Anns voice when she read a fb stat to me stating they were found. Then to hear the sadness after was heartbreaking. I will be there to support my brother, his wife and all the other families of Southend, and will continue to speak out if I feel their emotional wellbeing is compromised. 💖
