After nearly a year of planning, the Southampton Neighborhood Association, with the help of Chloe Hollett, J.D., Neighborhood Improvement Supervisor for the City of St. Louis, and Donna Baringer, Alderperson for Ward 16, has engaged well-known St. Louis artist Jeff Kapfer to paint a mural on one of the Macklind Avenue buildings next Saturday, March 22. The mural, designed by Jeff, will be painted on the north wall of 5401 Lansdowne, facing the wedge across from Buder Elementary School playground. The purpose of this is to beautify the Macklind Avenue Business District, all as an initiative to encourage more pedestrian traffic to the establishments located along Macklind. We invite you to come out to watch Jeff and the volunteers next Saturday, as they begin around 10 a.m. and hope to finish by dusk. Attached is a rendering of the mural.
