After paying the man (a large Midwestern banking concern who shall remain nameless but whose logo features a stagecoach) exorbitant fees for the privilege of taking credit cards on the Cloquet River Press website (cloquetriverpress), I finally got smart and pulled the plug on my website shopping cart. I sell very few books through the website. Most of my direct sales occur at events, such as craft shows and lectures, where I can utilize that ingenious and bottom-line-friendly device, The Square, to accept credit cards.
