After reading everyones posts from these recent incidents, especially the home invasion robbery, we want everyone to know we have the highest regard for Canyon Lake Watch and are thankful for what Ruben Flores does to keep the members of his page informed about crime in CL. CLW was right on top of that incident and posted the information immediately. The Friday Flyer was working on the print edition and did not learn about the home invasion robbery until reading the Sheriffs press release, at which time we immediately posted it to this page. Obviously, CLW is where you want to go to get up-to-the-minute news on such events. We do not look at CLW as a competitor. That being said, we would request that residents post to this page as soon as they hear about such activities. We arent always monitoring and aware, so we need residents to help us. The Friday Flyer sounds like it should be a big operation, but there is just the editor (me) and one part time reporter. We depend on the community members to help us with news, just like you depend on us. We have come up with an idea that we proposed to the Public Safety Committee to have each neighborhood in CL have their own private FB page so neighbors can talk to each other about suspicious incidents (or neighborly needs). We would help promote it through the FF, but someone from each neighborhood would have to be willing to go around to their neighbors, get their email address and invite them to be a part of the page. It would be purely voluntary. The administrator for each neighborhood page could (if they want) report to an overall coordinator if there was something of concern to the whole community, who could then post to The Friday Flyer or Canyon Lake Watch or some other entity. But all of it would be purely voluntary. We would like to call it Canyon Lakers Care or something similar. Ruben (CLW) and I will be talking about how this might work next week. Do you think something like this could work and, if so, do you see yourself volunteering to run a neighborhood page?
