After reading this mornings follow-up report on the Bristow Beat, I have left disgraceful in the dust, bypassed offensive and am now in full outrage mode. It would seem my assumed valuation of his benefits package was off my roughly $100K and that DR. WALTS WILL TAKE IN ROUGHLY $400,000 IN SALARY AND BENEFITS, FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND EFFING PWC TAXPAYER DOLLARS!!! MY KIDS COME HOME WITH NOTES BEGGING FOR KLEENEX, CRAYONS AND HAND SANITIZERS WHILE WE PAY THIS..... THE EQUIVALENT OF WHAT WE PAY THE POTUS. Quick to defend Dr. Walts, Chairman Johns noted that other local jurisdiction have similar packages for their superintendents, pointing to Fairfax as an example. I would note that even Fairfax doesnt pay their Superintendent as much as we do. Johns rationalized the salary by noting that there “has to be a relative comparison” and that the raise should be considered in context of the growing school division. John goes on to assert that “As his responsibilities have expanded, his salary has really only kept pace”. Really Milt, do you understand the concept of relative comparisons? I could argue that as Fairfaxs Superintendent collects a salary of $265,000 ($22,000 less than Walts) and has a school division that is 215% larger than PWC, we should not be paying Dr. Walts 8% more than the Fairfax Superintendent but rather 53.5% less or $123,255 as that would be a relative comparison based on the size of the school division and attendant scope of responsibilities. Given the palatial administrative building and extraordinarily expensive high school built in the wrong place under his watch, the ongoing DOJ investigations, falling test scores, etc., etc., etc., in combination this most recent defense of overcompensating what is at the end of the day simply another paper-pushing bureaucrat, it is no wonder I have reached a point of steam-coming out of my ears outrage. thederecho.blogspot/2014/06/aaarrrggghhh.html
