After saving up a bit of cash, Katrin Auch and I finally replaced our 40 LCD with a 60 plasma (Samsung F8500). Black Friday sale (40% off) + floor model (another 33% off, no accessories) + undetectable scratch on the screen (another $50 off) = holy cow did we get a good deal. We were planning to get a smaller, much more basic set (F5300), but Kat fell in love with this screen -- and we didnt want 3D glasses in the first place. We already had a mounting bracket and a Logitech Harmony remote, so the floor model was perfect for us. (They showed us the scratch after we decided to buy it -- its not visible when the set is on, and hard to see when its off.) The only delay was finding the right size bolts for our mounting brackets. Research and a quick jaunt to Home Depot took care of that, but for a day, this was proppped up on two dining room chairs! The 40 is now my gaming screen upstairs (gloriously upgrading a cheap 23 PC monitor), and the plasma is freakin gorgeous, as everybody told me it would be. Thanks to everyone who chimed in with advice!
