After spending way too much time responding to comments directed towards me in the thread on college education I referred to earlier, I have decided to get back to work. Here is what I have concluded from my time there: 1 - Many people involved in education at the college level sincerely believe that anyone who is self-educated is not as educated as someone who gets a degree or attends college. 2 - They are not interested in listening to anyone outside of academia regarding almost any issue. 3 - They ALL concur that someone who did not attend college has no business commenting on or having opinions on higher education. In my opinion, an unwillingness to listen outside of your own area is against what education is supposed to be about. These people obviously do not believe you have anything to contribute to education if you do not have a degree, unless its doing their plumbing or building them a house. Based on what they stood by, the athletes at UNC who participated in fake classes that contributed to their degree are more educated than I am simply because they were enrolled at the university. Good grief.
