“After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciple’s feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.” John 13:5 You know who really annoys me? Those feet washers in the church, you know the ones who are always acting like Christ, living out that servant-like attitude. They’re the ones who volunteer at the homeless shelter, help out at the soup kitchen, witness to the lost, they invite the broken to our churches(those people who don’t know our rules of conduct and look different), you know, the people who took what Jesus said literally. These crazy Christians think all Jesus followers should care for the hurting and go out of their way to love the lost, heal the hurting and bring hope to the hopeless. Why do they annoy me so much? Because, they make me feel uncomfortable in my comfortable-ness. Why can’t they be more like most church folks who like to come to church, hear a good message, sing a nice song, put on a smile for Sunday and then live like everybody else the rest of the week. With all their pious living they remind me that Jesus really does call the believer to live out a life of salt and light. And you know what really gets me? It actually looks like they are enjoying themselves. The question of the day… which type of person am I?
