Has anyone visited Tristan da Cunha? Do you remember the volcanic eruptions there in 1961 and 1962 when the inhabitants were moved off the islands to the UK via Cape Town. There was a special stamp issue to help raise funds. One set - issued for just four months, I believe - bore the new South African decimal currency. This was unique as the Tristan currency is pounds sterling. This stamp issue only managed to raise a rather paltry £108. Many of the islanders later returned there.
