“After the boy had gone, David got up from the south side of the stone and bowed down before Jonathan three times, with his face to the ground. Then they kissed each other and wept together—but David wept the most” (1 Samuel 20:41, NIV). David and Jonathan understood the different paths they had decided to follow. It hurt David much more since he knew deep inside of him that Jonathan his friend who had taken great risks on his behalf was going the wrong way based on familial ties. Jonathan also knew that the decision he was taking was going to cut short the ministry that God had committed into his hands. Thank God for the heart of David who respected Jonathan’s decision and never attempted in any way to castigate his friend like we do sometimes. In the things of God, there comes a time when we have to make decisions on which way to go: God’s way or man’s way. My prayer is that we allow the Spirit of God to guide us in all that we do to enable us make the right choices and follow the true path of God in Jesus’ name, Amen.
