After the grand jury no-bill on the cops who tried to arrest Eric Garner and killed him in the process, I revisited the full video. While Garner should have submitted to arrest (and saved his life), the cops shouldnt have done what they did and then failed to aid the man when he was in distress and unable to breathe. One of the videos that youtube suggested was the one below, of an incident in Los Vegas, which fortunately did not result in any deaths or serious injuries. But it does show the cultural differences between Afrrican Americans, who highly value personal respect, and white Americans, who highly value respect for authority and adherence to the rules. In this case, a husband, whod been drinking, got into an argument with his wife. She ran outside and he chased after her. The failure of understanding and communication between the cop and that man resulted in him being tazed and arrested. There should be another way.
