After the prayer call, led by Alisha Lola Jones and other sisters - TopicsExpress

After the prayer call, led by Alisha Lola Jones and other sisters ( Melva Sampson, Michele Watkins Branch, Neichelle Guidry Jones and more), I offer a blend of two litanies from the African-American Heritage Hymnal and my own prayers. #BlackLivesMatter #WailingWomen #IfNot4TheWomen God of our weary years...God of our silent tears...it is now that your wailing daughters come. We come to weep and lament the death of our children, our brothers, our sisters, our mothers, our fathers, and our aunties and uncles, and all those who have lost their lives at the hands of injustice and violence. We wail, for many of us dont know what to do during such a time as this. We wail because the silence has overtaken us and wailing is the only thing we can do. God we understand that all life is sacred, but we particularly lift up to You, Black bodies across this world. We pray for Black families everywhere and for future generations. We affirm for every Black family faith, strength and love. We pray for faith, strength and love for Black families everywhere and for future generations. We pray for the inner strength of every Black family member--every parent, spouse, child, sibling and caregiver--that they may never forget your promise to strengthen them and cause them to stand, upheld by your righteous, omnipotent hand. Blessed are those mighty men and women of strength, who set a path for others to follow. Nubian queens and great kings foresaw the plight of slavery to be one of oppression and cruelty. They resisted preferring death. Blessed are those are threw off the shackles of powerlessness and looked to a better day. In the spirit of Denmark Veasey, we long to see the promise of freedom blossom in the land of the living. The flowers of freedom are watered with blood, sweat and tears of our ancestors who never gave up the fight! O Lord, have mercy on our world. It has embarked on a journey that is in great need of your intervention. In the spirit of Cynthia Wesley, Addie Mae Collins, Carole Robertson, and Denise McNair (and all those named and unnamed), we will NOT shrink in the face of duty. We will not meander in the maze of mediocrity. Black martyrdom wears many faces, but the response to the call is the same. God, we know that we will be victorious. We claim victory in your name. As martyrdom knocks on our hearts even now, may we be willing to sacrifice everything to insure freedom and deliverance. It is that liberating name of power...the ultimate fighter of justice...the truthseeker who fought even until His death...our Black Messiah and Afrikan brother, Yeshua HaMashiach...Jesus the Christ. Amen and ashe.
