After the rig incident I took the dogs directly to the trail for a run. I am hoping Lori Lee will have video she took from the road of that for me soon (hint hint). This is the second run we took together, with the new shortie harnesses and the extensions. I wanted to say something about getting back on the proverbial horse again. With mushing, and life, if you fall, you MUST get up, check your dogs then yourself and rig/bike/sled/scooter, and get right back on. The dogs need for you to remain calm, and lead them by example in a positive situation to finish up the run with. Like children, they look to us for how they should behave. SHOW THEM, be patient, and always with the energy of love to guide you. Id love to be able to tell people that they wont fall off the scooter, or crash their sled. But that just aint gonna happen LOL I remember my first sled crash and the resulting bruise - I showed it off for weeks. I also remember a few face plants with the scooter when hitting the wrong brakes - the look on the dogs faces as they stared at their human in total amazement that I had evolved thumbs was priceless. The big thing after an oops, it to make sure everyone is OK, and climbing back on and putting them right to work. Even if you only go 100 yards after that, it is ending on a POSITIVE note with good energy that is SO important to these pups of ours, and for us too. So this run is what I was rewarded with for keeping it light with my good dogs. Enjoy the scenery!
